Wow..... where do we start? Let's say we had some hectic days after the lock down was announced.
Preparing the dog & cat shelter for at least 21 days, get vet treatments, vaccinations, sterilisations done.
Rescue work that was exploding. Foster requests 💓, adopt requests 💓, home checks etc. etc.
Extremly blessed with all the fur friends that found a home and for some, a foster home, which we hope will be foster failures so that they can call it their forever home.
An amazing response on our call for help with food, such a great support from Friends of Chain from close and far.
Lots of support with visitors to our shop so that they have enough food, toys and snacks to keep the 4 legged ones happy.
And now..... we are about to start the lock down. Still enough animals to take care of in the shelters, but you can be really assured they are very well taken care of.
During the lock down period our fieldwork is under very strict rules. Only for critical emergency cases we will consider to drive out. For any help with your animal, you must please contact the vet, who are also available under very strict rules for emergencies only.
We wish you, your family, loved ones and fur friends all the best, stay healthy and make the best out of this period.
Warm regards from all of us at Chain! ... See MoreSee Less

If you need a companion to help you get through self isolation, please get a shelter dog. Even if it means for just a month. They will enjoy the love and keep you company. ... See MoreSee Less
What a lovely idea! Be hard to take the furbaby back to the shelter afterwards probably...
Let’s get this straight. I am cute and I know it. Where else will you find a cute little thing like me wearing dungarees???? When I am not playing dress up, I like to pose for photos, but the one thing I love most, is cuddling with my two legged friends.

Te pragtig kan ek haar nie net foster nie tot iemand haar aanneem.
I may look a bit timid, but I am waiting for my furever home. Beautiful Jackie is a lovely soft natured Jack Russel cross, that will make a good companion to anyone craving the love of a four egged child.

With the Corona Virus holding the country and the world in it's grip we as Animal Welfare also experience more challenging times then ever.
First of all you cannot get the virus from dogs or cats AND THERE IS NO REASON TO TAKE YOUR PET TO THE SHELTER DUE TO FEAR OF TRANSMISSION!
Extreme important is good hygiene, also when you touch or played with your pets.
Our fieldwork is facing more challenges with the virus and we will ask you to be cooperative to get a/your animal to a certain place. We have to restrict our fieldworker for human contact to make sure we can stay up and running the coming period.
The other challenge we have is that the fundraising events we attend and show our dogs, puppies, cats and kittens up for adoption are cancelled. With a shelter at full capacity and the same for the cattery we still invite you to consider an adoption and meet our stunning rescues.
Visiting the shelter / cattery is still possible, by appointment only and with a maximum of 4 people at one time.
We will ask you to disinfect hands and we will not shake hands or give you a hug. Lucky the 4 legged ones can cover that for us 💓
With extended school holidays, lots of people working from home this is the moment to consider to get yourself that companion you have been talking about.
Sometimes, being with your best four legged friend, is all the therapy you need!
Contact us for the 🐶 on 072 609 1165 and for the 🐱 on 081 849 2811.
As for our shops we are still open, in case anything changes in this situation we will inform you via facebook. So pop in if you need anything for your fur friend or if you can't sent the shop a whats app to 064 655 4724 and see how we can help you.
Please take good care of each other and hopefully we all get through this stronger! ... See MoreSee Less
